Country Style Green Beans With Bacon
This side dish comes together quickly so you can get dinner on the table fast!
Ingredients
- 3 slices of bacon, cut into small pieces
- 2 quarts green beans, or 4 (14.5 oz cans)
- 1 T. granulated sugar
- 1 T. white vinegar
- 1 whole onion sliced (optional)
Instructions
- Fry bacon until done. Remove bacon and set aside, but keep bacon fat in the pan. If using onion, add to bacon fat and saute until soft.
- Add green beans, sugar, and vinegar to bacon fat.
- Heat through. You can add more sugar or vinegar to taste at this point. I like to keep the sugar content low but some will add up to 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of vinegar. It should have a sweet, tangy taste.
- Add the cooked bacon back to the green beans and serve.
